General Motors has issued a safety recall N252515340 affecting certain 2026 Chevrolet Silverado EV and GMC Sierra EV vehicles due to a defect involving the electronic stability control (ESC) warning system. Electronic stability control systems are designed to help drivers maintain control of their vehicles, particularly in slippery or emergency driving conditions. According to the recall, after experiencing an electronic stability control (ESC) system malfunction, the ESC malfunction telltale may not illuminate on the next key cycle, even though the ESC malfunction may still exist. This can prevent drivers from knowing that the electronic stability control system is not functioning properly. The recall also notes if a driver is not aware that the ESC system has experienced a malfunction and requires servicing, there is increased risk of a crash. The NHTSA Report can be referenced here.

Affected Vehicles

The recall includes:

  • 2026 Chevrolet Silverado EV
  • 2026 GMC Sierra EV

Why This Recall Matters

Recalls can be an indication that an underlying issue exists with the vehicle and the manufacturer has knowledge of that defect.  Under the California Lemon Law, if the manufacturer cannot repair your vehicle under warranty after repeated attempts, you may be entitled to compensation. You can read MMO Law’s post pertaining to automotive recalls by clicking here.
