FCA US, LLC (widely known as “Chrysler”) will begin directly notifying consumers on March 8, 2023 by mail about a transmission and engine issue in their vehicles. Specifically, Chrysler has identified that certain 2017-2023 Pacifica Plug-In Hybrid Electric vehicles can have unexpected engine shutdowns stemming from a wiring issue in the vehicles transmissions. The issue can cause a loss of power which result in the shutdowns. According to Kelly Blue Book’s reporting on the recall the identified issue can increase “the risk of a crash”.

Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service directly about this recall, which potentially affects 67,118 vehicles.

As we covered in our prior post on the relevance of recalls in Lemon Law claims, recalls can be an indication that an underlying issue exists with the vehicle and the manufacturer has knowledge of that defect.  Under the California Lemon Law, if the manufacturer cannot repair your vehicle under warranty after repeated attempts, you may be entitled to compensation. You can read that post pertaining to automotive recalls by clicking here.
