Ford Motor Company has announced a recall of 870,000 F-150 trucks in the United States to address a potential wiring issue that could cause the electric parking brake to activate unexpectedly. The recall covers 2021, 2022, and 2023 model year F-150 trucks and includes trucks equipped with a single exhaust system.

Owners of the affected F-150 trucks can expect to receive notification letters regarding the recall on September 11, 2023. To identify the recall, it is referenced as either NHTSA Recall No. 23V509000 or Ford’s number 23S35.

This latest Ford Recall comes off the back of already a series of recalls for the 2023 Ford F-150 issued in 2023 including the following:

  • A Electrical/Propulsion system: Traction battery Recall, identified as NHTSA Recall 23V168000 or Ford Recall 23S15;
  • A Power train: Axle assembly Recall, identified as NHTSA Recall 23V070000 or Ford Recall 23S06;

  • A Front Airbag Recall, identified as NHTSA Recall 23V072000or Ford Recall 23C01;

Recalls can be an indication that an underlying issue exists with the vehicle and the manufacturer has knowledge of that defect.  Under the California Lemon Law, if the manufacturer cannot repair your vehicle under warranty after repeated attempts, you may be entitled to compensation. You can read MMO Law’s post pertaining to automotive recalls by clicking here.
