n December of 2022, Recall No. 22V923000 was issued for 2022-2023 Chevrolet Malibu vehicles. GM is issuing the recall for 2,100 Chevrolet Malibu vehicles as a result of framing problems. Specifically, GM has admitted that the front impact bars may of the impacted Chevy Malibu vehicles may not be properly welded to the front frame rails. Dealers will inspect the right-hand and left-hand side of the vehicle’s motor rail for an incomplete weld.
The issue is one that should be taken seriously because it may be a safety issue. If the front impact bar is improperly welded, front crash sensors may not perform as designed which may undermine occupant protection performance and increase the risk of injury in a frontal crash.
Recalls can be an indication that an underlying issue exists with the vehicle and the manufacturer has knowledge of that defect.
