Nissan has issued a safety recall affecting certain 2026 Nissan Kicks and Nissan Sentra vehicles due to a defect involving the front seat frame welds. The hook bracket of the front seat frames may have insufficient welds. This defect could allow the seat frame to loosen or fail during a crash, which may prevent occupants from being properly restrained and increase the risk of injury. Nissan’s internal reference for this recall is Recall PD185/PMA61. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (“NHTSA”) has issued its own report and references it as Recall No. 26V023. The NHTSA Report can be referenced here.
Affected Vehicles
The recall includes:
- 2026 Nissan Kicks
- 2026 Nissan Sentra
The number of affected vehicles has not yet been finalized, but Nissan has confirmed that impacted vehicles were recently manufactured. According to recall reports, the issue involves:
- Front seat frame welds
- Insufficient weld strength
- Potential seat movement during collision
A loose or unstable seat may reduce occupant protection and increase injury risk during an accident. Recalls can be an indication that an underlying issue exists with the vehicle and the manufacturer has knowledge of that defect. Under the California Lemon Law, if the manufacturer cannot repair your vehicle under warranty after repeated attempts, you may be entitled to compensation.
